Anything but ordinary, Molly Mulligan focused her undergraduate studies on astronomy and physics, earning her degree with the class of 2005.

Following her time at Smith, Molly was offered a spot as a graduate student at the University of Massachusetts, where she is currently earning a combined Masters of Science and Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering. Her research focus is self-assembling nanostructures; Molly plans on graduating in May 2010.

Though she spends most of her time working on her doctorate, Molly still manages to fit in running, playing hockey and coaching high school girls' lacrosse.

Post-graduation, we will likely see Molly making strides in the field of nanotechnology. When asked what she would like to do with her degree, Molly gave an impressive answer, listing the possibilities of working on adhesives with corporations like 3M, improving the production of low-fat foods with Kraft or modifying materials such as glass for use in aircraft, space and cars.

Ideally, she'd like her own nanotech company in Denmark. For now, however, she's sticking to studying in Sunderland.
