Softball

Record: 13-13

NEWMAC Record: 6-6

The Smith softball team finished the week with a .500 record both in the NEWMAC and overall. Bouncing back from two losses to Williams on Wednesday, the Pioneers swept Clark on Friday with an 8-0 run-rule victory highlighted by a three-run homerun by sophomore shortstop Kate Schoenen, followed by a 9-6 win in game two. On Saturday, the team traveled to Wellesley and started the day with an impressive 5-0 shutout victory. In the circle for the win was senior Katie Maroney, who gave up one hit and struck out four for her eighth win of the year. Unfortunately, the Pioneers failed to sweep the home team, dropping a heartbreaking 3-2 decision that went eight innings.

Tennis

Record: 2-9

The tennis team dropped their only contest of the week in an 8-1 loss at home to Wesleyan. Only one Smith player, senior captain Cami Whitney, earned a victory. Whitney claimed the number one singles title 6-0, 6-3.
