Lacrosse
Record: 3-10
NEWMAC Record: 0-5
The lacrosse squad dropped three games in a rough week that included two NEWMAC competitions and one non-conference opponent. Unable to rebound from the loss at Babson on April 8, Smith fell to Springfield College 18-4 on April 11. Sara Smyth '08, Susan Parke-Sutherland '07, Lesley Aldrich '08 and Elizabeth Mehr '08 each scored a goal in the loss. In a non-NEWMAC contest, New England College beat Smith 11-7. Parke-Sutherland led the Pioneers with three goals. In the final competition of the week, the Pioneers were shut down by Wellesley 19-10. Captain Anna Lee Harris '06 and Parke-Sutherland led the team in scoring with three goals each.
Softball
Record: 13-13
NEWMAC Record: 6-6
The Smith softball team finished the week with a .500 record both in the NEWMAC and overall. Bouncing back from two losses to Williams on Wednesday, the Pioneers swept Clark on Friday with an 8-0 run-rule victory highlighted by a three-run homerun by sophomore shortstop Kate Schoenen, followed by a 9-6 win in game two. On Saturday, the team traveled to Wellesley and started the day with an impressive 5-0 shutout victory. In the circle for the win was senior Katie Maroney, who gave up one hit and struck out four for her eighth win of the year. Unfortunately, the Pioneers failed to sweep the home team, dropping a heartbreaking 3-2 decision that went eight innings.
Tennis
Record: 2-9
The tennis team dropped their only contest of the week in an 8-1 loss at home to Wesleyan. Only one Smith player, senior captain Cami Whitney, earned a victory. Whitney claimed the number one singles title 6-0, 6-3.
