Lacrosse
Record: 3-7
NEWMAC Record: 0-3
On April 5, the Pioneers defeated Elms 13-6 to give them their third victory of the season. The team failed, however, to keep the winning streak alive by succumbing to Babson College 16-4. Elizabeth Nickle '06, Susan Parke-Sutherland '07 and Anna Lee Harris '06 all scored for the Pioneers in the loss. Sara Smyth '08 is currently leading the team in goals with 14 for the season.

Softball
Record: 9-10
NEWMAC Record: 3-5
Last weekend was a busy one for the Smith softball team. On Saturday, the team fell twice to NEWMAC opponent Babson College, 2-1 and 6-3. On Sunday, the team swept Springfield 5-1 and 1-0 to claim their second and third conference victories of the season. The winning pitchers were Katie Maroney '06 and Emily Hiltzik '09. Senior Sara Watson continued to dominate at the plate, boasting a .477 batting average for the season.

Tennis
Record: 4-16 (includes the fall season)
NEWMAC Record: 2-7 (includes the fall season)
The tennis team captured a fourth place finish at the Seven Sisters Championship at Vassar College on April 2. After losing to Wellesley, Mount Holyoke and Vassar, the team rebounded by defeating Bryn Mawr 4-1. The team beat Springfield College 8-1 in an away contest April 8. Cami Whitney '06, Kate Johnson '07, Talia Williams '08, Seiko Fujii '08, Catherine Lydecker '08 and MyDzung Chu '09 all earned victories in singles competition. Fujii and Whitney also earned victories in doubles competition, as did Lydecker and Jacqueline Sager '08.

Equestrian
The Smith team finished the season in third place in Zone One, Region Three. Two members of the team qualified for the Zone One finals at Mount Holyoke College, which was held on April 8. At the Zone competition, Emily Hertz '07 earned a third place finish in the Open Over Fences event and Christy McKenzie captured a sixth place finish in the Alumni Over Fences event.

Crew
Saturday, April 8 was a successful day for the Smith Crew team, as they were able to claim victories in three out of four events against Colby, WPI and Wesleyan. The Pioneers' lone defeat came in the Women's Third Varsity Eight race against Colby. This was the team's first competition of the spring.

Track and Field
At the Williams Relays on April 8, several members of the track and field team performed well. Katie Walters-Krohn '06 placed first in the hammer throw, third in the shot put and fourth in the discus throw. Liz Kelly '06 ran a 18:36.43 in the 5,000 Meter Run, which was good enough for a fifth place finish.
