On Thursday, September 22nd, at 9:00am, recent Hampshire graduate Margaret Sanders, 23, had a fatal bike accident while traveling near Smith at the end of Elm Street. Meg had been returning home from her night shift at a local domestic violence shelter.
As a result of Meg's untimely death, a critical mass bike ride will occur on Friday, September 30th, at 5:30pm. Interested cyclists are encouraged to meet at Pulaski Park in downtown Northampton near the bus stop.
Over the past few years, Meg volunteered for charity bike rides and help raised awareness for AIDS, domestic violence, animal rights, bicycling advocacy and social justice.
Northampton bicycle advocacy groups encourage students to visit their website (www.massbike.com) and to put on bright clothing, a helmet, and front and rear bike lights when riding during the night.
