Sophomore Seiko Fujii (Aichi, JAPAN), playing number three singles for the Pioneers, picked up two wins in NEWMAC competition this week. Her first victory was against Springfield's Shannon Desroches (6-0, 6-0) on Tuesday. On Saturday, she defeated Francesca Russo, a former All-Conference player from Babson. Seiko maintained her patience, consistency and focus as she set her goal to get every ball. She won her match 6-4, 6-3 making very few unforced errors and frustrating her veteran opponent. Sieko is currently 2-1 in NEWMAC competition.
