Alex Kozinski Speaks on the Federal Judiciary for Amherst College
On Thursday Sept. 22, Alex Kozinski, U. S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit will deliver a speech entitled "At the Crossroads: The Federal Judiciary and the Political Branches of Government." This event will take place at 8 p.m, in the Babbott Room of the Octagon at Amherst College. Free and open to the public.
CPPA Honors Peace Prize Winner Jody Williams
Nobel Peace Prize laureate Jody Williams, founder of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL), will be given the Center for Public Policy and Administration's annual Public Service Award on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 4 p.m. at the UMass Campus Center Auditorium.
Carjacking at Hampshire Mall
A carjacking at the Hampshire Mall on Saturday night resulted in a high speed chase, which destroyed a woman's car and left two brothers facing a long list of criminal charges. Hadley police say Amy Galant, 32, was uninjured after two men threatened her at gunpoint outside the Ground Round restaurant at 10:30 p.m. before driving away with her 2004 Mercedes convertible.
