Senators Discuss Nine Org Charters

Senate passed motions to charter the Society of Automotive Engineers and Youth Action International. Senate also passed charter revisions for Smith Democrats, the Smith Science Fiction and Fantasy Society (SSFFS), Orchestra, Smith African and Caribbean Students Association (SACSA) and Smith Pagans.

ORC Member-At-Large and senator Katie Chase '07 presented a senate resolution on revising the current policy for guests to the college. The resolution encourages the Residence Life office to change the current guest policy to allow guests to spend the night in common spaces, rather than forcing organization to have members host guest groups in their private rooms. Senate passed the resolution.

Senator Erica Toler '06 gave an update on the College Parking Committee. The committee is organized by Public Safety. The college has a considerable problem with parking on campus, and is working towards bettering the situation. They found extra space around campus to create more parking space, and are making plans to revise protocols involving student parking.

The last item on the agenda was to elect Senate positions for the '05-'06 school year. The following positions were filled by the following students: Senate Secretary, Lindsay York '08; Senate Parliamentarian, Christina Cheung '08; Elections and Appointments (EnA) Vice-Chair, Yasassri Gammampila '08; EnA Secretary, Natalie Vernon '08, and ORC Members-At-Large, Danielle Lee '06, Liz Tangora '06, Mandy Taus '08, Elan McCollum '08 and Sam Lewis '08.
