Tennis
Smith tennis opened its spring season by sweeping Union and Skidmore Colleges this past weekend. The Pioneers defeated their opponents with flare, taking all 18 possible points from them.
Co-Captain Lauren Kemp '05, Co-Captain Ruth Linz '05, Kate Johnson '07 and Shelly Kattan '08 defeated their opponents in their singles and doubles matches against both teams, scoring four victories each.
The team is traveling to Florida for Spring Break where the Pioneers will face Hillsborough Community College on March 14.

Swimming & Diving
Shanti Freitas '08 set a new Smith record on the one-meter board with 292.90 points this season, qualifying her for the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships. At the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships she placed second in the event and third on the three-meter board. Freitas, the first Smith diver to qualify for Nationals in eight years, will be one of 22 divers competing in the championships being held March 10 to 12 at Hope College in Holland, Michigan.
