Senators Debate, Approve $234 Student Activities Fee

"This is just saying SGA supports the cause for clean energy at Smith," said Levi. "This is the biggest way that Senate can support it [clean energy] without it being on the ballot."

Katie Chase '07 suggested that the resolution include a statement that the resolution "does not necessarily mean that we [Senate] want students to be charged [for the energy]."

Aguirre and Levi will prepare a final draft of the resolution, which will be presented and voted on by the Senate at next week's meeting.

Senate voted on members to fill positions on several SGA committees. Curriculum Committee had one opening. Kelly Johnson '08 and Lindsay York '08 volunteered for the position; Johnson won the seat.

The Awards Committee needed two to three new members. Kayleigh Colombero '08 and Liz Tangora '06 volunteered and were accepted for the positions.

Senate needed a new parliamentarian to advise Senate on parliamentary procedure. Sophomore Class President Meg Ambrus '07, Jennifer Kirk '08 and Emily Garvey '06 volunteered for the position. Ambrus won the election.

The Rally Day Medalist Panel requested that senators help brainstorm questions to ask the medalists during a panel. Senators broke into five groups, read biographies of the five medalists, and wrote questions for their respective medalist. Rally Day is scheduled for Wednesday, February 23.
