Smith students who share music files over the Internet could be in breach of the Honor Code and turned over to federal authorities for violation of copyright laws. Responding to subpoenas the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recently slapped on local schools, including the University of Massachusetts, Mount Holyoke College, Amherst College, Boston College and Boston University, college administration officials have released a written warning and the threat of Judicial Board repercussions.

Smith College has emerged as one of the top producers of Fulbright fellows in the nation. Last year, nine Smith students were awarded fellowships. Every year, 900 students and alumnae receive the prestigious fellowship, along with a choice to live in one of 140 and $25,000 to fund their studies.

Smith Dems Host Liberal Date Auction
On Friday, February 11, the Smith Democrats, the Five College Democrats and the College Democrats of Massachusetts will hold a Liberal Date Auction. Come bid on guys and girls from schools all over the state at 8 p.m. in Weinstein Auditorium, Wright Hall.
Senators Debate, Approve $234 Student Activities Fee

Senators passed a motion to approve the proposed $234 Student Activities Fee for the next academic year.
ORC Chair Becca Cohen-Taub presented the fee to the senators. The fee is an $8 increase from the $226 fee that is being charged to students this year.

Smith a cappella groups, already a very visible presence on campus, are doing a major recruiting effort this semester. In the past week, the Vibes, the Noteables, the Smiffenpoofs, the Smithereens and Crapapella auditioned prospective members.
Although Smith's a cappella groups all recruit in the beginning of the fall with their annual Arch Sing, the groups seek new members for the spring semester as well.
