Last weekend, Northampton Center for the Arts hosted Twist, an arts and crafts fair in its very first year. Twist's flyers and Web site boast that it is a "fresh kind of fair" with artists not only from the local area but from around the nation. Raney-Mills Turner of raney-day-rings - rings made from recycled jewelry pieces - and Anthony Ferrario of Stormcloud, Bring Rainbows - a line of sewn-together pieces of recycled apparel - traveled from Boston and were extremely excited that they were camping in Goshen to attend the fair.

The words 'bread festival' might not initially excite the non-baking crowd, but the Hungry Ghost Bread's fifth annual "Wonder Not Bread Festival" involves more than just eating - although food will be the uniting element. This free festival features local bands, Pioneer Valley farmers and, of course, bread.

Although I'm a junior at Smith, I had yet to visit the Alumnae House when I stopped by to check out the current exhibition of paintings by Phyllis Rosser, a successful artist and Smith alumna. The exhibition space alone is worth a visit; the paintings are displayed in a long, sunlit room with tall windows and boxes of blooming flowers.
