Smith College officials met with students Wednesday to discuss the school's budget situation and proposed faculty cuts.
The presentation, hosted by Rick Myers, director of finance, and Danielle Carr Ramdath, associate dean of the faculty, was an informal question-and-answer session, giving students a chance to learn more about how Smith's budget works.

Five years ago, the Smith College philosophy department established a series of ethics-based symposiums to raise the issues of applied ethics.

Paula Giddings, already a Smith professor, journalist and prominent editor, is about to release her third book, "Ida: A Sword Among Lions." The prolific Giddings' latest work details the life of Ida B. Wells, the daughter of former slaves and a fierce civil and women's rights activist of the late 19th and early 20th centuries-definitely a woman ahead of her time.

ANNUAL JHALAK SHOW SCHEDULED FOR LATE MARCH
EKTA, the South Asian students' organization of Smith will present Jhalak, its annual cultural show on Friday, March 28 at 8 p.m. The performance will feature South Asian dances, songs, poetry reading and skits. Jhalak will be held in Sweeney Concert Hall, Sage Hall.
