Fourth seeded Smith volleyball team beat Wellesley 3-1 on November 1. The Pioneers will advance to the semifinal round on Friday where they will face top seeded M.I.T. in Cambridge. Sara Hoffman'08, playing with a torn ACL, tallied 6 blocks to spark the team's defense, helping her team win game 2 by 30-15, a 15-point margin.

Senior runner Liz Kelly earns this week's Smith Student-Athlete of the Week honors after her 8th place finish at Saturday's NEWMAC Cross Country Championships helped her team to a third place overall finish, the Pioneer's highest finish since they last won the championship in 1997.
