Halloween at the movies

Abstract:
It's that time of year. Yes, Halloween is upon us once again. Of course, this holiday means many things to different people.

For some - mostly children - it means dressing up in elaborate costumes and running around like madmen who are desperate for candy....

This is a bit silly, considering it seems that you haven't seen any of the movies that you are talking about, except for The Stepfather which is the least critically acclaimed of the bunch, and Zombieland (which was decent). Paranormal Activity IS outrageously scary and awesome, and everyone absolutely should see it. I don't understand your ignorant dismissal of Saw VI however. The film will absolutely please fans of the franchise (such as myself) as, unlike most horror sequels, it actually continues to live up to the vision of the original. It's also the first Saw film to actually address any emotional consequences of these "games." And, no, if you've seen one Saw film you have not seen them all -- as each film adds to the mystery and puzzle that is being created. Genuine Saw fans do not watch the films for the torture scenes, or to find out "what will happen next," but rather watch in order to obtain another piece of the puzzle. The Saw films (the last 4, anyway) happen in sequence, one film picking up exactly where the last left off. It's a serial mystery... so again, no, if you've seen one, you haven't seen them all. But it doesn't sound like you've really even seen one, or you'd know this...

And, a sidenote, Antichrist is dreadful, dreadful garbage. I've had the displeasure of seeing it (twice, unfortunately). Shock-schlock at it's worst. Skip it.

What, no love for the cult classics? The Rocky Horror Picture Show, traditionally shown at midnight on Halloween, may not have guts and gore galore, but it's camp, it's fun, it's got rockin' music and Tim Curry!
If that's too ancient for you, why not Repo: The Genetic Opera? Again, music, camp, fun, plus a bit more blood for those of you who like that sort of thing. And bad language, and sexual dancing, and all sorts of fun. And they were even playing this weekend! Actually, they play all year the next town over.
So don't just stick with the popular stuff for Halloween. Go cult classics!
