Our price for one column inch advertising space is $8. Usable ad space is 5 columns (10 inches) across by 16 inches down. A column inch is 2 inches wide and one inch tall. These prices are for Black and White ads only. If a color ad is desired, the charge is an additional $225, regardless of the ad size. We do not print spot color only.

Pre-printed insert advertisements are available upon request for a charge of $100 per thousand. Contact managing editor for more information.
Classified Ad Rates Base price for a single insertion of 20 words: $8. All classified ads are charged the minimum. Each additional word is 20 cents.
Discounts
Frequency discounts are available from 5% for three ads, 10% for six ads, and 15% for a full semester.
Non-profit organizations receive a 15% discount. Please specify your non-profit status in the insertion order.
Local businesses (in Hampshire County, MA) will receive a 10% discount.
Advertising Guidelines
Advertisements are due on Friday at midnight the week before publication. These rates are effective September 1, 2006. Any previous arrangements are null and void.
The Sophian reserves the right to request advanced payment from new advertisers, to refuse advertisement at our discretion, and to edit classified ads for clarity and/or length with appropriate adjustments to charges.
Please address any questions about our advertising policy to the Managing Editor.
We are only able to accept payment by checks payable to “The Sophian”. Invoices and tearsheets will be mailed within one week of the publication date (if a series of ads is placed, it will be sent within one week of the last publication date). We expect payment within 30 days of receipt of the invoice.
Online advertising is not currently available, though we expect to offer it beginning October 2006.
